Saint-Estèphe, with its clay and gravel soils, is known for powerful, robust wines with firm tannins and deep, earthy notes. Moving south, Saint-Julien offers a balance of elegance and structure, producing refined wines characterized for silky textures and complex flavors of dark fruit and cedar, thanks to its well-drained gravel soils.
